Plastic Bag Project

After looking into global warming and the effects plastic has on the planet I decided to focus on painting and sewing beautiful animals with vibrant colour on top of plastic bags, this highlights how plastic is destroying the earth and it’s nature. I researched the representations behind flowers and animals and linked them together through this for example, the whale and tulips both represent family and strength. For one of the bags I used dark colours and distorted the bag by melting it and painted a turtle with a plastic bag in its mouth to show how sea life is being effected by pollution and litter, I also used plastic straws and painted them white to demonstrate coral bleaching. This art work juxtaposed the brown paper bag with vibrant colours and a healthy turtle on it implying that if we stop using plastic the result on the planet will be hugely positive.
